Brazilian Football Academy has announced that it is launching its popular football skills development programme for the first time in Sai Kung. The football skills development experience has been expertly designed for boys and girls aged 4-10 years and will take place on Sundays at the Hong Kong Academy, Sai Kung.

Mark Keates, Head Coach, BFA has said about the programme, “we work hard with our professional team of football coaches to ensure that children that come to BFA classes develop skills, learn the importance of sportsmanship, play as a member of a team and have fun”. Mark went on to say, “we believe that the benefits of team sports go beyond the glory of winning tournaments, but should be for children of all abilities to mix with others, learn to follow instruction, and have the opportunity to learn skills and grow developmentally while having fun, my own kids really love it!”

Brazilian Football Academy (BFA) was set up in 2008 by ex-professional football coach,  Carlos Nunes, from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. When speaking about the success of the classes, Carlos shared, “everyone knows that Brazil is football mad, no more than in 2014 when we will host the World Cup, but the wonderful thing about football is that it’s something anyone can enjoy, any level, any age, any nationality. We teach our young players that being part of a team, working together is when you can achieve real success in life.” Mr. Nunes went on to say, “I founded this company to bring together children of all nationalities through football, so that they can enjoy playing as part of a team, outside, which is often hard to achieve in Hong Kong.”

BFA classes have been well received by the multicultural parents of Hong Kong, and the football academy now teaches more than 1800 students, across 23 locations, representing expat and local communities. The BFA also run teams at multiple age levels, which are lead to a chance to compete in the Hong Kong Junior Football League.  All of BFA’s classes are conducted in English with an upbeat, fun and energetic approach, and its 16 professional coaches undergo a rigorous training programme. Mark Keates went on to say, “quality and reputation is everything to us, our foremost priority is ensuring that BFA students learn skills, in a happy, safe and fun environment. Competition is just one element of what we do, but one that is a great motivation for our students to refine their skills and see the results of that translate to medals and trophies.

With competition for international schools in Hong Kong fiercer than ever, many parents are also looking at ways in which to diversify their child’s existing portfolio of activities. For those parents based in Sai Kung, the BFA football classes offer another fun way to spend a Sunday and help develop their child’s skills and confidence.
