Approximately 200 residents gathered in Sai Kung Square on the evening of November 11th to protest against the FEHD’s Shopfront Extensions Fixed Penalty.
Saikungers were invited to bring their own tables and chairs, dress up their tables with wine glasses, candles and more. Residents supported nearby establishments by purchasing takeaway meals.
According to organiser Vicky Chan, the FEHD did not intervene. The police later came, but only to tell diners to keep the noise down.
The penalty is affecting many businesses in Sai Kung that are already struggling due to the retail slump. Find out more about how businesses are being troubled here.
